Emily Pantelides, The Communicator
Leaving her position as morning news anchor for WPEC CBS12 is one of the biggest risks Emily Pantelides ever took. It’s also proven to be one of the most rewarding leaps of faith for the entrepreneur, who grew up in Athens, Greece before moving to the U.S. with her mom and sister. Employing her expertise and connections from more than 10 years working at news stations, she launched Pantelides PR & Consulting in 2014. Since then, she’s racked up a dossier of clients that includes the Florida Panthers, Jupiter Medical Center, the American Red Cross, Alfred Angelo, and Tri-County Animal Rescue—one of many local charities she’s involved with. Pantelides, mom to 3-year-old George and baby Alexandra as well as two rescue dogs, serves on the board of directors for Big Dog Ranch Rescue, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, and March of Dimes. Though she hasn’t looked back, Pantelides couldn’t say goodbye to TV completely; she still hosts segments for CBS12, including Food Trippin’, Spotlight on Business, and the new Extraordinary People, where she highlights those making a difference in the community.
PR wisdom: When you’re doing good PR, it doesn’t matter who you’re doing it for. Whether your client is a funeral home or an animal rescue, it’s the same principles of good coverage.
Next goal: To continue providing a supportive working environment for women with kids.

Keeping faith: If you follow God’s will for your life, you can never go wrong. Even though it was very hard for me to leave TV, I knew it was the right thing to do.

Most prized possession: My grandmother’s bible. She wrote so many notes inside and [family members’] names next to specific verses.
Favorite song: “Stereo Love” by Edward Maya and Vika Jigulina. If I’m in a bad mood, I can blare it and feel better.
Best part about summer: Trading in my “season” heels for comfortable flats.
Local escape: Tri-County Animal Rescue. It doesn’t sound cathartic, but it is.
