Jacob Jennings, The Dancing King

Although Jacob Jennings was on track to become a professional opera singer, he decided to switch gears to pursue competitive dancing and instruction while in his freshman year at Old Dominion University in Virginia. His focus on ballroom and Latin styles led him to train under world champions in Chicago before relocating to Boca Raton, where he now resides and works as a freelance teacher, striving to help his students feel comfortable in their own skin—and while doing the Samba. In 2016, United States Dancesport ranked him the third best overall instructor, making him the top American-born teacher in the country. He channels his talents to benefit causes close to his heart, competing in Boca’s Ballroom Battle for nonprofits like the George Snow Scholarship Fund. Jennings also supports Best Foot Forward and Tri-County Animal Rescue, where he and his partner adopted their dog, Sherlock, and cat, Miss Wiggles. He’s recently embarked on a new adventure into South Florida’s luxury real estate market as a realtor associate for Douglas Elliman and a certified home stager with his own company, UpStaged Home Design.

Next goal: I’m not going to stop until I’m in Forbes magazine.

Greatest misconception about real estate investment: It’s so much more than flipping houses. You don’t need a lot of money to get started—you just have to be smart about it.

The perfect dance requires: Good music, a balanced relationship with your partner, and an open mind so you can let creativity flow. That’s the recipe for anything in life.

Go-to happy hour spot: El Camino in Delray Beach

Favorite movies: Singin’ in the Rain and Lion

Local escape: The pool at the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach

His idea of real estate heaven: Don’t we live in it? Really, it’s wherever makes you smile that day and gives you that feeling of home and nostalgia.

What he’d title his autobiography: One Step at a Time Quote that inspires him: “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.”

“Love the world, love other people, but first of all take time to love yourself.”
