The Canvas Outdoor Museum Show is coming to Lake Worth. The brainchild of South Florida gallerist and art advocate Nicole Henry, Canvas has previously taken place in West Palm Beach’s downtown district and waterfront area. For its third year, the celebration of site-specific alfresco art is moving farther south.
From November 26 to December 2, Canvas will invite international artists to downtown Lake Worth to paint murals on buildings and under bridges, craft large-scale sculptures, and imagine art installations for locals and visitors alike.
Henry has gifted Canvas 2017 with the theme of “unity,” empowering participants to envision ways in which art can bring us together amid divisive times. The Canvas Instagram account (@canvasoutdoormuseum) recently began confirming its artist lineup, which includes Hoxxoh from Miami, Okuda from Madrid, D*face from London, and Sao Paulo’s own Kobra, whose Technicolor Einstein mural at Subculture Coffee on Clematis has become a local viral sensation. This year, he’ll use the south wall of the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County’s Lake Worth headquarters as his canvas.
The artists will create on-site throughout the weeklong festival, meaning visitors can watch the works evolve day-by-day. They can also take a self-guided tour of Lake Worth’s newest art additions using the Canvas app. More events will be announced in the coming days. To learn more, visit canvasmuseum.org
