Audi Polo Team |

In 2011, the Audi Polo Team went to the finals of the USPA Piaget Gold Cup, where they took the win, and then to the finals of the US Open where they faced a determined Lechuza Caracas. All four members of the 2011 Audi Polo Team were back in 2012 for the winter season at the International Polo Club – Palm Beach: Gonzalito Pieres and brother Nico formed the core of the 26-goal team along with top American player Jeff Hall. The third member of the 2011 team back to play for the Audi Polo team in 2012 was Rodrigo Andrade. Andrade played on Audi's 20-goal team. Fan favorite American player Nic Roldan and Argentine newcomer Lucas Lalor created a formidable line-up with Andrade for the Audi Polo Team in the 20-goal tournament series. Captain Marc Ganzi led the Audi Polo Team in the 20-goal tournaments at the International Polo Club – Palm Beach. Then in the 26-goal tournaments, Marc and Melissa Ganzi alternated the captain's duties. In the Royal Salute CV Whitney and Nespresso US Open Marc Ganzi led the Audi Polo Team. But, for the USPA Piaget Gold Cup, it was Melissa Ganzi taking the #1 position for Audi. For the USPA Piaget Gold Cup the Audi Polo Team brought back it's 20-goal core, Nic Roldan and Rodrigo Andrade, for more high-level play. Alejandro Novillo-Astrada joined the team at back playing the #4 position. Novillo-Astrada comes from one of Argentina's most famous polo families. His brother, Miguel Novillo-Astrada, played for Melissa Ganzi's Piaget Polo Team in the 20-goal this season at the International Polo Club. The 2012 season saw a record number of teams at the International Polo Club and the competition was fierce. The Audi Polo Team played into the finals of the Ylvisaker Cup and the quarter-finals of the Nespresso US Open Polo Championship. Based on their superb play for the Audi Polo Team, team members Nic Roldan and Lucas Lalor had their individual player handicaps raised by the USPA. Roldan was raised from 7 goals to 8 and Lalor was raised from 4 goals to 5. |
