The long-awaited 24-goal match will feature elite international talents in U.S. and U.K. polo. Competing for the U.S. team will be prominent player-patron Marc Ganzi, 8-goal standout Pablo Pieres, along with 7-goal stars Nic Roldan and Jeff Hall. The England team will be led by 7-goalers James Beim and Luke Tomlinson, who will be playing alongside skilled teammates Malcolm Borwick (6) and Ollie Cudmore (4). Beim and Tomlinson played on the victorious 2009 Westchester Cup team, while both Nic Roldan and Jeff Hall represented the USA. American-born Paul Pieres and Marc Ganzi will be making their first appearances on a US team in England. The team arrived in England on Tuesday May 15th for the annual Audi Polo Awards event that took place in London on the 16th. From there the team was headed straight to practice riding horses assembled from top English teams. While this US team is new to polo in England, they are very familiar with one another. Nic Roldan and Jeff Hall played with Marc Ganzi on the Audi Polo Team this past season at the International Polo Club Palm Beach. Pablo Pieres played with Audi at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club during the summer of 2011. |
