It’s not often that you can help eradicate hunger by indulging yourself, but on Wednesday you’ll have thechance.
Taste of the Nation, the fundraiser sponsored by Share Our Strength, is coming to Palm Beach. The event will be held from 6-9:30 p.m. on Wednesday June 20, at the Kravis Center’s Cohen Pavilion. Holders of VIP tickets ($150) may arrive at 6 p.m. to sample the food and wine, and will have the opportunity to preview the silent auction items. Regular admission ($90) begins at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at strengthflorida.org.
Over the years Taste of the Nation has become known as one of the country’s leading culinary events, a chance for participants to sample dishes from leading restaurants in their area, paired with cutting-edge wines. The nearly 30 participating eateries include local favorites such as Café Boulud, Casa D’Angelo, Chops Lobster Bar, Echo, Angle, Talay Thai, Max’s Harvest and Pistache. The Republic National Distributing Co. is providing most of the beverages. This year’s event is chaired by Chef Clay Conley of Buccan Palm Beach, Zach Bell of the Addison Reserve Country Club, and Allen Susser, the owner of Chef Allen’s Burger Bar in Palm Beach Gardens.
Founded in 1984, Share Our Strength is committed to the goal of eradicating hunger in America. In addition to the mission of feeding our nation’s children, they also focus on providing the correct levels of nutrition. Proceeds from Wednesday’s event will be donated to local charities and No Kid Hungry Florida, which funds afterschool meals, the planting of produce gardens, and programs to teach kids about healthy eating. Probably the best thing about Taste of the Nation is that a great deal of the money raised is passed through to the recipients---the event is staffed by volunteers, and the organization’s overhead is low.
Come to the Kravis Center on Wednesday and take advantage of a rare opportunity: the chance to wine, dine, and do good works at the same time.
