Let the Sun Shine

I inherited my pale complexion from my Irish ancestors, but as a life-long beach lover, I refer to it as my unfair skin, because I’ve been burned to a painful, cooked-lobster crisp—a lot.

Hampton Sun Contiuous Mist Sunscreen - Vanity beauty product review   The invention of sunscreen was a welcome development for sure, but I found most had drawbacks. The search for the perfect formula ended during a recent trip to Las Vegas, where I spent a couple of 100-degree afternoons lolling on a chaise lounge poolside at the Bellagio.

Since I didn’t pack any sun protection, I had to buy some at the hotel. The saleswoman recommended the Hampton Sun Continuous Mist Sunscreen, with the comment, “It’s the best.” She was right.

The nonaerosol spray is light, with a consistent flow from any angle, and it smells nice. What I love most about it is it covers evenly, so after four hours under the dry desert sun, I had none of the interesting zigzags and dots of sunburn I typically wind up with after using other brands of sunblock. Even better, once the oil-free block dried on my skin, I didn’t even notice it was there. The UVA/UVB broad-spectrum protection spray is very water-resistant—a good thing since on a hot Vegas afternoon, several dips in the pool were required.

Hampton Sun Continuous Mist Sunscreen, available in 15, 35 and 55 SPF, includes good-for-your-skin aloe vera, vitamins A, C and E, and Polycrylene—just approved by the FDA for enhancing sunscreen protection. It’s a sure bet, in Vegas and everywhere else.

Available for $32 at Sephora stores, or online at hamptonsuncare.com
