I inherited my pale complexion from my Irish ancestors, but as a life-long beach lover, I refer to it as my unfair skin, because I’ve been burned to a painful, cooked-lobster crisp—a lot.
The invention of sunscreen was a welcome development for sure, but I found most had drawbacks. The search for the perfect formula ended during a recent trip to Las Vegas, where I spent a couple of 100-degree afternoons lolling on a chaise lounge poolside at the Bellagio.

The nonaerosol spray is light, with a consistent flow from any angle, and it smells nice. What I love most about it is it covers evenly, so after four hours under the dry desert sun, I had none of the interesting zigzags and dots of sunburn I typically wind up with after using other brands of sunblock. Even better, once the oil-free block dried on my skin, I didn’t even notice it was there. The UVA/UVB broad-spectrum protection spray is very water-resistant—a good thing since on a hot Vegas afternoon, several dips in the pool were required.
