From the Tweet Seats: Cinderella

Last night, I attended the final dress rehearsal of Palm Beach Opera's La Cenerentola, aka Cinderella. Written and composed by Gioachino Rossini in 1817, the operatic version of Cinderella deviates from the Disney classic: Instead of a fairy godmother, Cinderella receives help from a magical man disguised as a beggar, and instead of losing a glass slipper at the ball, Cinderella gives the Prince one of her bracelets.

Despite these differences, Rossini's Cinderella has all the charm of Walt Disney's animated masterpiece. As with La Traviata, the first production from Palm Beach Opera's 2013 season, I live tweeted from Cinderella. Below is a selection of those tweets; hopefully they give you an idea of what to expect from this delightful show.

La Cenerentola officially opens tomorrow, February 15, and runs through Sunday. On Saturday, at 1 pm, PBO will present an abridged family performance featuring Palm Beach Opera's Young Artists. Arrive early (11:30) and check out a number of "education stations" with musicians, singers and art projects. To learn more or to purchase tickets visit pbopera.org.
