Elementary, middle and high school students are invited to show off their engineering ingenuity and creative skills through five different design contests in the South Florida Science Musuems 27th annual Drop It, Build It, Fly It, Launch It - Thrill It Engineering Competition.
Competitors will await the news to hear if they have a golden egg or Humpty Dumpty after their egg takes a 3-story drop in their self-made containers in the Drop It competition; or if their bottle rockets will shoot toward the moon, or fizzle out during the Launch It competition. Bridges will be built, aerodynamic paper airplanes will be flying and roller coasters will be rolling as students compete for nearly $5,000 in prize money to be awarded to the first through fourth place winners in each category.
The competition will be judged by the Florida Engineering Society. The public is invited to watch the engineering competition being held at the Museum.
