Every season, the Boca Ballet Theatre presents four major productions. Closing this season’s run is Return to Russe, a repertoire concert that travels through several eras of music and dance, presenting pieces that significantly impacted the world of classical ballet. The performance features a riveting premiere of a new work, choreographed by Boca Ballet Theatre’s Artistic Director, Dan Guin, created as a tribute to the Ballet Russe’s The Rite of Spring, consequently the ballet’s 100th anniversary.
In addition to the dynamic choreography, The Ballets Russes’ unique use of scores, sets and costumes created a dramatic mood and atmosphere, which is especially apparent in Le Spectre de la Rose, Michel Fokine’s dramatic collaboration with Stravinsky from 1911. This ballet was on the program the night that Stravinsky's Rite of Spring premiered in 1913.
