Dr. Maya Angelou: "Race Relations"

January 16, 2014  7:30 PM

Dr. Maya Angelou, 2013 recipient of the Literarian Award, an honorary National Book Award for contributions to the literary community, is one of the most "renowned and influential voices of our time." Pulitzer Prize nominee, poet, educator, novelist, historian and civil rights activist, Dr. Angelou speaks a message of faith, hope and love. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. asked her to serve as Northern Coordinator for the South Christian Leadership Conference. After Dr. King's death, she published I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.

This evening, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Day, and on the 30th anniversary of our special relationship with Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, we welcome their members and all of our community guests.
