Andrew Bott became principal of Orchard Gardens K-8 Pilot School in Roxbury, Massachusetts in 2010. As the school's sixth principal in seven years, Bott reinvested the troubled school's capital away from security infrastructure, and into the arts. The Cultural Council and the Middle School of the Arts Foundation welcome Andrew Bott to Palm Beach County to speak about his school's success. At a school plagued by poor test scores and violence, where backpacks were prohibited for security reasons, Bott fired security guards, replacing them with art teachers. This bold decision turned Orchard Gardens into a vibrant and flourishing environment where test scores have improved and attitudes have brightened. Please join us at the Bak Middle School of the Arts to hear about this incredible transformation. The program will include musical performances and a presentation of the a Key to the City by Mayor Jeri Muoio.
