Each year the New Gardens Band pays tribute to John Philip Sousa, the composer of “Stars and Stripes Forever,” by presenting an authentic concert experience just as the famous bandmaster did in the early 20th century. In addition to those famous Sousa marches, this year’s program will include little known Sousa “pearls” from his vast library of works; all presented in the unique and exciting style that made Sousa and his band so famous. The concert will also include costumes of the day, virtuoso trumpeter John Branzer, soprano Lorrianna Colozzo as “The Lady in White”, and even a placard girl to tell the audience the next encore, just as Sousa did it. Many of this year’s selections were performed by the Sousa band on their tour in 1914.
Don’t miss this Stars and Stripes centennial celebration of America’s greatest music.
