Family Art Exhibit: Charles N. Mills, Edith Humphreys and Denise Collins

New York-born artists Charles N. Mills, Edith Humphreys and Denise Collins shared more than a love for the arts – they also shared a bloodline and desire to create art that resonates with the soul and the past. The patriarch of the family, painter Charles Mills, who painted the entrance mural at Sistrunk Boulevard in downtown Fort Lauderdale and passed away in October, 2013; his daughter, the sculptor Denise Collins; and his late niece, painter Edith Humphreys, will exhibit a collection of over 50 pieces of original art work inspired by the stories and ancestries of Africa, America and the Caribbean.

World Down Syndrome Day Art Exhibit

In recognition of World Down Syndrome Day (March 21st), Very Special Arts (VSA) will be exhibiting their artists’ works at the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization Resource Center located at 915 S. Federal Highway in Boynton Beach. The exhibit will be open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from March 3rd through March 28th. The display will include representation from the digital art/photography, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, glass fusing, mixed media, abstract painting, classical painting, watercolor painting, and drawing/cartooning programs offered at VSA. This year we are proud to honor 5 amazing women from all areas of Palm Beach County while raising money. What makes this event different is renowned artist Renee Plevy paints an oil portrait of every women honored and unveils them at the luncheon.

Broadway Star Eden Espinoza

Monday & Tuesday, 8 pm; Crest Theatre. Eden is most recognized for her portrayal of ‘Elphaba’ in Wicked on Broadway. She also starred in the San Francisco production and created the role for the Los Angeles production. Eden created the role of ‘Brooklyn’ in the Broadway production Brooklyn The Musical and starred as ‘Flora’ in Flora the Red Menace for the Reprise Theater Company. She played ‘Maureen’ in Broadway’s closing production of Rent, which was filmed for TV. She also has numerous other television credits. Known for her powerful and emotionally charged vocal style, she was the featured soloist in Magical, the new fireworks spectacular at Disneyland. Eden made her solo concert debut in Los Angeles in 2008, and in 2010 her solo show From Eden With Love played to sold out houses in NYC, San Francisco and Los Angeles. This is a non-subscription special event.
