DESCRIPTION:As the eyewitness generation is passing, descendants of Holocaust survivors offer personal insights into the profound impact the legacy their parents' experiences have had on their own lives. For Mindy Weisel, raised as the only daughter of Auschwitz survivors and born in the Bergen-Belsen Displaced Persons Camp just after WWII, her identity as the child of survivors has formed the backdrop for her life as an artist and author. Weisel, author of Daughters of Absence: Transforming a Legacy of Loss, will share her story and discuss the pivotal role that the second generation can play to ensure that the Holocaust and its lessons are remembered and taught.
