Dorothea Hunter Sonne is the Editor of Naples Illustrated and naplesillustrated.com.
Most recently she served as the primary correspondent for Fodor's Florida, Fodor’s South Florida and fodors.com, writing about the area stretching from Fort Myers to Marco Island as well as Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast.
Before moving to Naples in 2010, she spent nearly five years as a staff editor and writer at O, The Oprah Magazine in New York City. In addition, Dorothea coedited Words That Matter, a book of inspirational quotations published by HarperCollins. She has also written for award-winning magazines and websites such as Chicago and The Knot.
She earned a master’s degree in magazine publishing from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in political science and international studies from the University of Chicago.
Often on the go, she and her husband, Erick, love exploring—be it quick weekend trips within the Sunshine State or lengthy stays in Argentina, India and other places of interest in the United States and abroad.
