On August 18, the Delray Beach Public Library is bringing a triple B threat to the Delray Beach Club with Beach, Barbeque & Books. Part of the library's centennial celebration, this beach party will have it all, with all-you-can-eat barbecue, sandcastle-building contests, a beer-tasting tent (presented by Brown Distributing, South Florida’s craft beer kings) and volleyball clinics for children and adults led by Shore Thing sponsored professionals, including recent 2012 London Olympic beach volleyball athlete Steve Grotowski. As an added bonus to help stave off those post-Olympic blues, there will also be professional beach volleyball exhibition matches played at the multiple, all adding up for some real family-friendly fun in the Delray sun.
Part of the Delray Beach Public Library’s yearlong centennial celebration, Beach, Barbeque & Books joins a slew of events and functions aimed to commemorate and raise funds for a community stalwart. Not part of the county or city library system, the library is funded through a private/public partnership with the city, the Community Redevelopment Agency and the Library Association, which allows for a community-forward mission to foster a “love of reading, encourage lifelong learning and to provide a comprehensive range of library materials, programs and services for adults, teens and children.”
- Beach, Barbeque & Books takes over the Delray Beach Club on August 18 from 4-8 p.m. Tickets cost $50 for adults and $25 for kids and include all-you-can-eat barbecue as well as volleyball clinics. For tickets and more information, please visit delraylibrary.org
