Charles Steadman, master mixologist and Lantana Jacks Bar & Grill managing partner, shows us how to make the effervescent Hibiscus Fizz.

Hibiscus Fizz

  • 1½ oz. house-infused strawberry vodka (see below)
  • 1 oz. house made hibiscus syrup (see below)
  • 3 lemon wedges
  • Prosecco

Garnish: Edbile hibiscus flower

In a cocktail tin filled with ice, add vodka, hibiscus syrup, and three lemon wedges, squeezed and dropped into the tin. Shake vigorously. Strain into a wine glass filled with ice, top with prosecco, and garnish with an edible hibiscus flower.

The following is a palmbeachillustrated.com-house recipes for strawberry-infused vodka and hibiscus syrup.

Strawberry-Infused Vodka

  • 2 pints fresh, ripe strawberries, quartered
  • 750 ml vodka (Tito’s!)
  • 2 Mason jars

Take two pints of fresh, ripe strawberries and quarter them. Add one pint each of strawberries to a Mason jar. Fill vodka to the top of each jar, seal, and store in a cool, dark place (like your pantry) for three days (up to a week), agitating daily. Once infused, strain with a coffee filter or cheesecloth. Enjoy!

Hibiscus Syrup

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoon dried hibiscus flower (or 4 hibiscus tea bags)

Essentially simple syrup with some dried hibiscus flower thrown into the mix, this recipe is pretty simple. Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan; bring to a simmer, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, add hibiscus and let steep. Once cool, strain into jar and store in the refrigerator.
