Light Up - Mya Handmade Cigars

Jennifer Pfaff

Light Up

While it may be illegal to bring a Cuban cigar across the border, the next best thing is a stogie made in West Palm Beach by a Cuban family that has been in the business for four generations. Each day, more than 100 Mya Handmade Cigars are rolled, cut, pressed and wrapped by hand by members of the Rodriguez family, whose cigar-making roots go back to 1896 Cuba. Their Mya blend, made of leaves from Mexico, Nicaragua, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic, has a mild flavor that aficionados would identify as similar to a Romeo y Julieta cigar, making it a daytime stogie ideal for golfing. The cigar, which comes in 14 sizes, has been savored by several famous faces, including President George W. Bush, celebrities at the 2004 MTV Movie Awards and the 2004 Boston Red Sox when the team won the World Series. (561-659-3230, myacigars.com)
