Sixth Annual Festival of Trees

Stephen Brown

Festival of Trees - Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens - We Three Kings   A West Palm Beach holiday tradition once again unfurls as the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens opens its doors for the sixth annual Festival of Trees. This year’s theme takes a lyrical note with “A Musical Masterpiece,” letting tree decorators and sponsors tap into their inner musician and use a favorite song as inspiration. Each year, trees sponsored by area patrons and businesses are designed by an array of interior designers, area artists, architects and floral artists. Every aspect of the tree is meticulously planned and executed—no branch is left unturned in the pursuit of the perfect marriage between aesthetic, theme and originality—as the gardens are transformed for the holiday season.
A cacophony of songs—disco, classics and more—will blanket the gardens for the festival. The music also take physical form on the branches of Douglas and Fraser Firs, as each tree is decorated to represent a specific song. Christmastime favorites like “We Three Kings,” “Nutcracker Suite” and “Silver Bells” are sure to put revelers in the spirit of the season, while tunes like “Surfin’ USA,” “Night Fever,” “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “Love Shack” will give the decorated forest a little swing and an added dose of fun. In all, 33 trees will grace the lawns, gardens and courtyards of the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, each unique and noteworthy in its own right.
Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens - Festival of Trees - tree from 2010   The Festival of Trees is one of the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens’ major fundraising events. Funds raised support not only the gardens but also its Community Enrichment Program, which includes exhibitions, literacy days, Earth days and student visits. Featuring a dazzling lightshow and performances by local musicians, dancers and actors dressed as holiday characters, the family-friendly Festival of Trees has become one of the most anticipated events of the holiday season.
