Natalie Cole - concert - Kravis Center and Sunrise TheatreThe daughter of classic crooner Nat King Cole, Natalie earned her own spotlight with her 1975 debut album, “Inseparable,” which featured the No. 1 hit single “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love).” The hallmark of her career came years later when she sang a duet with her late father’s 1951 recording of “Unforgettable.” The song was the centerpiece for her 1991 album “Unforgettable … With Love,” a compilation of American Songbook standards that earned six Grammy awards and spent five weeks at No. 1 on the pop charts. Having undergone kidney transplant surgery for Hepatitis C, Natalie has written books inspired by personal struggles and is a spokeswoman for the University Kidney Research Organization and the Tune In to Hep C awareness campaign.

PBI: Can you share an unforgettable memory you have with your father?
Going to the movies with my dad to see It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World back in the early ’60s—very funny movie. Dad laughed so hard that he literally fell in the aisle of the movie theatre!

What quote inspires you?
I cannot give just one quote—there are too many to list, but one that I like very much is the Serenity Prayer. It is the inspiration for many members of the Bill W Club and Alcoholics and Addicts Anonymous: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

What’s one of the proudest moments of your career?
The proudest moment of my career, I believe, is yet to come.
