Couture garments could be considered wearable works of art, and many fashionable masterpieces have been created stateside. “IMPACT: 50 Years of the Council of Fashion Designers of America,” shown at the Boca Raton Museum of Art from January 29 to April 21, is a collection of clothing and accessories from 600 influential American designers of the last half-century, including Michael Kors, Diane von Furstenberg, Norma Kamali and Vera Wang. This interactive exhibit is a history lesson in disguise, allowing viewers to explore the timeline of American fashion through touchscreen displays. A supplementary exhibit titled, “Draw and Shoot: Fashion Illustrations and Photographs from the Collection,” which captures fashionable moments on camera or paper, complements “IMPACT” like a pearl necklace to a Chanel suit.
