Florida Sangria

Sangria is a wonderful beverage to enjoy with a few friends, be it on a warm afternoon or as a dessert wine after a meal. This recipe calls on a specialty fruit wine made in the Sunshine State: blueberry wine.

A number of wineries dabble in the blue, notably Island Grove Wine Co. in Hawthorne and Keel & Curley Winery out of Plant City. Both make a fine wine that borders on Malbec and Syrah and, believe it or not, isn't sweet. Try the recipe below, and you too will praise the power of the blue.

Florida Sangria

5 Servings

  • 1 lemon
  • 1 lime
  • 1 orange
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1 bottle blueberry wine, semi-dry

Wash and thinly slice lemons, limes and oranges, without removing the peel. Place in a large pitcher and add strawberries. Pour wine into pitcher so it covers fruit. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours.
