Staying home for the summer? Prevent seasonal boredom by sending the kids to one of these camps:

 

Camp Loggerhead combines the nostalgia of sleep away camp with the comfort and luxury of the Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach [to be Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa come July 1]. Activities like three-legged races and toasting marshmallows over a fire are harmoniously matched with the perfect escape from sticky summer days. While the kids are involved in an array of entertaining and educational programs, parents can enjoy a relaxing day at Eau Spa. Weeklong stays include overnight luxury accommodations. All campers’ meals and activities are included, along with an adult dinner for two and a family dinner.

South Florida Science Center and Aquarium - Summer Camp - West Palm Beach

South Florida Science Center and Aquarium Summer Camp offers young scientists, ages four to twelve, the opportunity to choose from ten weeks of different scientific exploration. Whether your child dreams of digging up dinosaur bones or aspires to be an astronaut, there is something for everyone at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium. This summer, campers will also be able to take advantage of the newly renovated space, including a dazzling aquarium full of new species and exhibits.

This summer, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s Paul and Sandra Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts is once again offering summer programs for children in Pre-K through twelfth grade. Flexible hours including pre-care and after-care ensures campers can take advantage of their time at the Maltz, with sessions including everything from dance to comedy.

   “Our goal is to make sure that all of our students have fun, build confidence, express their creativity and have the opportunity to experience being part of a performance,” said Julie Rowe, director of education at the Conservatory.

The Armory Art Center is offering a wide range of educational and inspirational art instruction this summer. Children ages five through 10 will explore different themes in art and learn the concepts and techniques behind varied artistic styles. Each week is $225 with a $20 discount from enrolling in multiple weeks. Artists, ages 11 to 17 can hone their skills in specific media-based courses like ceramics and painting during weeklong classes.

Armory Art Center - Art Summer Camp - Palm Beach County

The Palm Beach Zoo’s summer Zoo Camp gives kids the opportunity to go behind the scenes and learn about what it really takes to care for the many amazing animals that call the zoo home. Each week offers a unique wildlife theme and enriching education activities, along with plenty of time to play in the fountains on hot summer days. The one week Wildlife Conservation Career Academy gives campers age 15 to 17 an inside look at what it really takes to pursue a career in zoology, conservation and veterinary medicine.

  • Camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Palm Beach Photographic Centre's FOTOcamp gives kids with an interest in photography and computers a comprehensive experience in digital imaging, from exploring the world to find the right shot to using Adobe Photoshop to perfect it. Professional photographers will lead FOTOcamp in individualized and group critiques of their work, with a final exhibition open to the public at the end of the summer. Campers are provided with SLR digital cameras and state-of-the-art digital imaging software. The student who achieves Best of Show at the final exhibition will receive the Best Student Award and their own digital camera.

  • Each two-week session is $695 for members and $745 for non-members.
