Eye on Style

Jennifer Pfaff

When it comes to fashion, some people have natural talents: They’ve got their pulse on the latest trends, take successful style risks and assemble outfits the rest of us want to copy. Kristin Clark is setting an example for fashionistas in South Florida as the Simon Style Setter for the Town Center at Boca Raton. Clark writes about local trends and mall news on her style setter blog and maintains a personal fashion blog, Living in Color Print. We got her take on fall trends in SoFla and what it’s like being a style setter.

How would you describe your personal style? Feminine, playful and, above all, full of color.

What are some essentials for a stylish Labor Day party outfit? A cute, playful sundress; wedges; and a crossbody bag are my go-to outfit essentials for Labor Day. This will translate perfectly for an outdoor backyard BBQ, a pool party or a rooftop soiree.

Name three fashion must-haves for fall in South Florida. A leather piece, whether it be a sleeveless peplum or skater skirt; chunky knits, perfectly paired with colored skinnies or textured leggings; and slouchy/harem pants, worn with tight fitted tops and tailored blazers.

What trends are on your radar this season? I'm excited for jewel-tone hues like emerald green and cranberry, classic black and white duos, and neutral color blocking for fall.

What do you think makes a person a style setter? I think a style setter is someone who's not afraid of fashion—not afraid to mix and match pieces and take things that may not be your normal item and make it into something that fits you and your personal style.
