13 Nights of Fright

Haunted House - Halloween Events and Parties in Palm Beach County

PROPEL (People Reaching Out to Provide Education and Leadership) and Catskill Haunts is bringing the fear to Boca Raton this fall as it opens a 3,000-square-foot house of horror. Thirteen nights of fright are in order as guests make their way through room after terrifying room of ghosts, ghouls, goblins and all other miscreant g-words.

The party doesn’t stop with the haunts. Festival goers can carve pumpkins, test their pipes with a little karaoke and nosh on Halloween treats like caramel apples.

  • Tickets cost $15.
  • Festival dates and times are October 6, 11 p.m. to midnight; October 13, 6-10 p.m.; October 18-20 and 24-26 at 6-11 p.m.; and October 27, 6-10 p.m.

Delray Beach Spook-tacular Halloween

Delray Beach is pulling all the stops this Halloween for the annual Spook-tacular Halloween on October 26.

Festivities begin early as little ghouls and goblins collect candy in the “Trick-or-Treat Along the Avenue“ from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Area restaurants and shops along Atlantic Avenue and Pineapple Grove will hand out treats to costume-clad kiddies.

At 1 p.m., when the candy bags reached their max, the Halloween Parade marches on down Atlantic Avenue, starting at Old School Square Park and meandering into Veterans Park.

As a way for candy-fueled trick-or-treaters to burn off those sugar highs, Kidsfest immediately follows the parade at Veterans Park and parties on until 4 p.m. Billed with live entertainment, a bounce house, plenty of food vendors, a make-and-take craft area, along with family-friendly activities and games, the party will bring new meaning to Halloween Eve.

Lake Worth Monster Mash

Lake Worth Monster Mash - Halloween events in Palm Beach County

Halloween just isn’t complete without a monster mash; it’s a graveyard smash! The inaugural Lake Worth Monster Mash is set to take over downtown Lake Worth for a creepy night of adult and child-friendly activities on October 26.

Starting at 6 p.m., festivalgoers will be transported to a carnival-style Halloween funhouse with five themed sections, including characters and surprises at every corner. For families, a Kid’s Crawl will run from 6-8 p.m. beginning at the Lake Worth Cultural Plaza, where there will be a costume contest, a special trick-or-treat trail, kid-friendly music, themed photo boards, a not-too-scary “haunt line,” outdoor movies, prizes, face painting and much more.

The real fun begins once the kiddies head home and the Monster Mash turns bar crawl. Starting at South Shores Tavern & Patio Bar at 7 p.m., the party gets on the move, stopping at bars and restaurants along the way, each offering up specials and a few games. Crawlers in costume can enter costume contests and have a chance at a cameo in the locally produced flick Beach Zombie Rampage: Kick’n it in the LDUB.

  • Admission to the Kids’ Crawl is free.
  • After Hours Crawl costs $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and includes a swag bag.

Moonfest

For 20 years, downtown West Palm Beach’s Moonfest has been the biggest Halloween party in Palm Beach County—an estimated 65,000 people showed up last year. And 2013 will be no exception. On October 26, Moonfest is finally of age to partake in some adult bevvies as the twenty-first annual party gets underway at 7 p.m. and, like last year, will be a 21-and-up shindig.  Live acts include heavy hitter The Reverend Horton Heat along with Luna Rex and The People Upstairs, while the costume party promises to be the best ever—it's zombie themed.

  • Moonfest will be rocking Clematis Street on October 26, starting at 7 p.m.
  • Admission costs $7 in advance ($10 at the gate) and $50 for the VIP—RIP—Area ($75 at the gate), which includes an open bar from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. and buffet.

Zombie Crawl

As a primer to this year’s Moonfest, the second annual Zombie Crawl will stagger down Clematis Street on October 25. Benefiting the American Cancer Society, zombies will congregate at Roxy’s Pub at 5 p.m., where pubcrawlers gather their gear: wristband, glass and T-shirt. At 6 p.m., the zombies come alive, bouncing from bar to bar for an hour apiece. At each stop, a raffle prize will be handed out, so keep an eye on your tickets.

The party concludes at the Roxy’s Rooftop Bar for the afterparty, Zombie Prom, complete with a costume contest.

Participating bars:

  • Roccos Tacos
  • Grease Burger Bar
  • Bar Louie West Palm Beach
  • Roxys Pub
  • Wine Dive
  • Off The Hookah
  • Roxys Rooftop
