Sometimes, art can seem overwhelming. Deciphering themes behind the masters like Picasso, exploring the frenetic speed of the Italian futurists or simply taking in the kitschy boldness of American pop art can cause some consternation for those uneducated in the medium. Luckily, the Boca Museum of Art has devised a way to sneak in a little art education in while sipping on some vino.

Each month from October through March, the Boca Museum will lead a themed wine tasting related to traveling exhibitions, pieces from the permanent collection and seasonal sentiments. Called “The Art of Wine,” the event will feature a curated selection of wine from sommelier Stephanie Miskew chosen either for region or varietal to pair with a gallery tour led by the museum’s curators. Be it a selection of Italian wines as you explore the works of Italian futurists or an in-depth tasting of New Mexico’s Gruet Winery as you examine the exhibition dedicated to the Santa Fe Art Colony, each tasting and tour will leave you better equipped to discuss art and wine.

  • The Art of Wine embarks on select Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. each month, starting in October and ending in March.
  • Each tour includes wine tasting, a selection of chesses to sample and a curated tour of select works in the museum.
  • Tickets cost $40 ($35 for members). Reservations are required; to RSVP, call 561-392-2500 ext. 208 or visit bocamuseum.org/wine.
