NATIONAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
For more than two decades, the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month has educated women about breast cancer, especially the importance of detecting the disease in its earliest stages through screening mammography, clinical breast examination, and for women 20 years of age and older, breast self-examination. The NBCA campaign hopes that visitors to their website will join them in October 2008 and all year as they reach out to all women throughout the United States with the important messages about early detection and the value of early treatment if breast cancer is detected.
The National Breast Cancer Awareness campaign is comprised of several national public service organizations, professional medical associations, and government agencies working in partnership to build breast cancer awareness, share information and provide access to screening services. These groups make up the Board of Sponsors all of whom are listed and described on the NBCAM Web site (nbcam.com). Click on any BOS member logo and learn more about breast cancer, breast health, and the importance of early detection of this disease.
