January is National Hot Tea Month, so we’ve rounded up some of the best spots in town to grab a cuppa and enjoy the cherished, centuries-old tradition of afternoon tea.
Afternoon Tea Under the Palms
The Boca Raton Resort and Club hosts afternoon tea in the modern and stylish Palm Court every day for resort guests and club members. Whether you sip on the single origin, Sri Lankan loose leaf teas of Dilmah, or opt for something bubbly like prosecco, sparkling rose, or champagne, Palm Court is a lovely place to meet up with friends and family. Their menu includes savory bites such as miniature blue crab roll, smoked salmon summer rolls, warm cheddar biscuits with shaved prosciutto, and more, as well as freshly baked scones, parfaits, macaroons, handmade truffles, and chocolate tarts. Café des Beaux-Arts at Flagler Museum
Every day through April 16, the Flagler Museum’s Café des Beaux-Arts offers a glimpse of the elegant entertaining of the Gilded Age with an Afternoon Tea that celebrates the beloved tradition. Guests will enjoy gourmet tea sandwiches, traditional scones, and other sweet treats, as well as a tea blend created for Flagler Museum – the Whitehall Special Blend. Tea is served from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday, and 12-3 p.m. on Sunday. Advance purchase of tickets is recommended. ($22 for members, $40 for non-members, price includes museum admission, tax and gratuity)
The Chesterfield Palm Beach
With a heavy focus on “noble tradition,” The Chesterfield Palm Beach takes Afternoon Tea very seriously. Between 1 and 5 p.m. every day, tea is served in the classic wood paneled library, extravagant Leopard Lounge Bar, and the open air of the courtyard – wherever you choose to sit, you’ll enjoy loose leaf teas and delectable treats, including traditional British scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserves. Dine and sip like British nobility in an atmosphere reminiscent of the 19th century and treat yourself with champagne. There is also a special tea package for children called the Little Prince and Princess Tea. ($30 per person for High Tea, $38 for Champagne Tea, $18 for Little Prince and Princess Tea, $19 for Scones and Tea)
Serenity Garden
Traditional High Tea is Serenity Garden’s specialty, and they pride themselves on treating their guests like royalty. Tea is served from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday and 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Afternoon Tea includes pots of tea, a cup of homemade soup per person, and high tiered tea service – featuring cranberry and orange scones with clotted cream and fruit preserves, delicate finger sandwiches, and an array of French macaroons and other delicate treats. Reservations are recommended, and gluten-free options are available for $4 up-charge and 72 hours notice. ($22 per person)
Teapots and Treasures Café
Juno Beach’s Teapots and Treasures Café is a wonderful place for mother-daughter tea dates. Casual yet beautiful, High Tea at the Café includes your choice of beverage (including traditional English teas, vibrant tropical flavored teas, iced teas and coffee), scones, fresh fruit or cream of tomato soup, tea sandwiches, and sweet tea desserts. A special children’s menu means Afternoon Tea can be an experience for all ages. Reservations are required with a two-day notice. ($24 for adults, $19.99 for adults in groups of 8 or more)
