Brazilian jeweler Irene Lummertz has bijoux in her blood. Lummertz’s fascination for rare stones stems from accompanying her gemologist father to Paraiba’s colorful mines. In 2005, she traded Washington, D.C.’s West End for the tropical splendor of Palm Beach and began selling her eponymous jewelry collection at luxurious boutiques like Mary Mahoney. She opened her first storefront off of Worth Avenue three years later, and moved to the island’s swanky Esplanade mall last December. Today, she travels to Brazil often to source raw gems like amethyst and tourmaline and to visit with the artisans who turn her bespoke creations into 18-karat gold-set masterpieces. When she’s not traveling, Lummertz enjoys spending time with her husband and son at their homes in Palm Beach and Washington, D.C.
