2018 Palm Beach Beauties

For our annual March feature on the Palm Beaches’ most beautiful women, we are called upon to define what beauty is. If you think about it, the concept of beauty is one of the hardest to nail down: It certainly is in the eye of the beholder, as the adage goes, and it evolves in concert with the collective consciousness. So how do we go about identifying the individuals worthy of that honor?

I can best answer that with an example. In July 2015, Perry Cohen and his friend Austin Stephanos, both 14, disappeared at sea while fishing offshore from the Jupiter Inlet. The tragedy devastated two families, sent ripples of grief across the Palm Beach County community, and resonated with parents around the world. It’s easy to imagine how such heartache could consume a mother. But Pamela Cohen channeled her grief into creating a lasting legacy for her son. She and her husband, Nick Korniloff, have established the Perry J. Cohen Foundation to support endeavors Perry cared about, including funding a new wetlands laboratory and habitat at Jupiter Community High School. The facility will be fully operational by next year—the year Perry would have graduated high school.

“I always felt and believed that Perry would change the world somehow,” Pamela recently wrote on Instagram, “and it has now become up to us to do it on his behalf.”

That is beauty.
