Angela Reynolds of Angela Reynolds Designs looked to the ABBA jukebox musical Mamma Mia!, onstage at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre January 15 to February 10, when creating this bohemian display. “As the gorgeous blue-and-white backdrop of the Greek islands sets the scene for Mamma Mia’s fun-filled musical adventure, so was it the basis of this tablescape,” says Reynolds. White linens give way to dishware by Williams Sonoma, flatware from Alain Saint Joanis, and light-fare appetizers courtesy of chef Maude Eaton. Vintage wicker wine jugs, low rattan lounge chairs, and a woven hammock reinforce the relaxed island vibe. “Additional pops of blue in the floral-printed pillows invite you to come sit, eat, and drink grappa all afternoon,” Reynolds adds.

Ol’ Blue Eyes

David Campbell of Elizabeth Fountain Interiors channeled Frank Sinatra when conceiving this scene inspired by MNM Theatre Company’s production of My Way, a musical tribute to the iconic entertainer onstage at the Kravis Center’s Rinker Playhouse through October 14. Campbell set his display in a suite at The Colony Hotel, one of Sinatra’s former Palm Beach haunts. “Our tabletop is a moment frozen in time,” Campbell says. “Mr. Sinatra, being the epitome of style and the voice of romance, has had room service delivered, dinner has been savored, and dessert is elsewhere.” A discarded watch, cufflinks, tie, and fedora—as well as a lipstick-stained cigarette—hint at a night well-spent with the ring-a-ding kid.

Easy Street

The Big Apple takes center stage in this design by Sheila Motley of Sheila Camp Motley Event Design & Management. Set in Manhattan, the musical Annie, onstage at The Wick in Boca Raton November 29 to December 23, offered ample inspiration for this theatrical table. “Our team was inspired by the whimsy of childhood and the New York City skyline,” Motley says. A custom tablecloth from Spoonflower features numerous NYC landmarks, while black chairs, matte stoneware, and gold flatware—all from Atlas Event Rental—imbue the table with a modern edge. Roses and carnations from Wellington Florist, Annie-themed cookies by Johnson’s Custom Cakes, miniature mops and pails, and glass milk cartons complete the look.

Smell the Roses

The matriarch in the August Wilson play Fences, onstage at Palm Beach Dramaworks in West Palm Beach March 29 to April 21, prompted this light and lyrical vignette by Brianna Allen of Kemble Interiors. “The inspiration for the intimate table setting for two comes from the simplistic beauty and nurturing caregiving qualities exemplified by Rose Maxson,” says Allen. “In the background, the rose-adorned fence repeats Wilson’s theme of allowing growth and change to occur with patience and love.” Allen complements the roses with light blues and pale greens in the Caspari placemats and chargers and Christian Lacroix starter plates. Juliska white dinner plates and linen napkins, Christofle flatware, and rattan stools and striped pillows from the Kemble Shop further pull the focus toward the symbolic florals.
