The Tampa General Hospital Loggerhead Triathlon will celebrate its fortieth anniversary at Carlin Park in Jupiter August 22. The Loggerhead Triathlon is produced by the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce.

What began as a local race in 1985 has grown into an annual tradition, drawing competitors from across Florida and the nation while maintaining the family-friendly atmosphere that has defined the event for four decades.

The race begins at 7 a.m. and features a 0.38-mile ocean swim, 13-mile bike ride, and 3.1-mile run. Participants may compete as individuals or on a relay team. Additional divisions include a duathlon and aquabike.

To commemorate the occasion, all participants will receive a Fortieth Anniversary finisher medal.
