Airport Art

Art is all around us. The Palm Beach County Art in Public Places program commissions, supports and displays art in such public places as parks, plazas and, yes, even at the airport.

The exhibition “Art at the Airport” is on display at the Palm Beach International Airport through June 25. The exhibit, located on the main terminal’s second level (near the travelers lounge), features 25 works from local artists. Selected via jury, the works represent a number of genres including mixed media and photography.

If you have a preconceived notion of airport art—muted color palettes and banal subject matters reminiscent of the fine collections of doctor and dentist offices—forget it. This exhibition is filled with exuberant works from up-and-coming artists. We’ve selected a few of our favorites in hopes that you’ll stop by the airport for more, whether you’re coming, going or just picking up a friend.
