Works by artist and Spanish actor Jordi Mollà will brighten the walls of the Norton House gallery when his exhibition, “Savage Garden| Jardín Salvaje,” debuts at Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens March 20. Hosted in partnership with Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Fair and Paul Fisher Gallery, the gardens’ fourth artist in residence will showcase 30 pieces through June 30.
Mollà hails from Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, and has earned international acclaim as an actor, painter, writer, and director. He is a five-time Goya Award (Spanish Academy Awards) nominee and has been in films such as Blow, Bad Boys II, Alamo, Colombiana, and Criminal.
As a renowned visual artist, Mollà’s works have been exhibited in fine art galleries and art fairs internationally for more than 30 years. He connects and communicates with his audience through myriad visual styles and techniques that range from abstract to pop, graffiti to hyper-realism. Although some of Mollà’s art may seem spontaneous and created in the bounds of a finite time frame, many of his sought-after works have taken the artist years to complete. Mollà often returns to a piece repeatedly, adding ideas and colors to the painting each time.
Mollà will hold an Artist Talk at Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens on March 23 at 10 a.m., where he will share his favorite pieces and reveal the inspirations behind them. A Q&A session will follow.
As part of the partnership with the Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Fair, guests can enjoy courtesy trolley service between the Palm Beach County Convention Center and Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. The trolley will run March 22-24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
