To continue its advocacy for artists in times of adversity and help them navigate through the uncharted economic turmoil generated by the COVID-19 crisis, ArtServe will host a free six-part “Smart Talk” series every Thursday through July 9 via Facebook Live and Zoom. Artists Erin Bassett and Dan Bondroff will discuss maintaining successful professional art careers and striking a balance between cost and profit on June 11.
Each “Smart Talk” installation will focus on professional development and business management for artists in the industry. Jean and Iggy Font, who operate Warehouse 4726, an artist-run studio space in Miami, will serve as moderators throughout the series.
“The stereotype of the struggling artist is real, but COVID has brought a paradigm in which those who had actually transitioned into successful businesses are now struggling once again,” explained Ed King, creator and producer of the ArtServe Live series. “We’re providing a forum where those who have made it can pass along their business acumen to those who need it, as well as those who need some fine tuning in managing their arts business.”
The WLRN Radio-sponsored series is free and can be accessed through Facebook or via the Zoom weblink provided in each Facebook event listing.
