I know, I know. Every time you cruise Worth or Royal Poinciana, it seems like there’s a Bentley Continental in every parking space. Yes, I feel your pain.
So if you want to stand out from the Continental crowd, Bentley is offering just 300 – and that’s worldwide – of its latest Continental GT3-R models.
Here is the most dynamic, fastest-accelerating Bentley road car in its history. Packing 572 galloping ponies from its high performance 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 – that’s up 51hp – it can scoot from standstill to 60mph in just 3.6 seconds.
The car is inspired by Bentley’s new Continental GT3 race car that’s been burning up the tracks, and doing rather well, in the Blancpain Endurance Series.
Like the race car, it’s hand-built by Bentley Motorsport in Crewe, England. And like the racer, it’s designed to go around corners really fast. Not that we have many of those here in Florida.
Part of the conversion is the addition of a new torque vectoring system. This allows the engine’s humongous torque to be split unequally between the rear wheels, neutralizing understeer and enabling the car to turn into bends much more aggressively.
The car also features new 21-inch forged alloy wheels together with Bentley’s carbon-silicon-carbide brake rotors which have the capability of popping eyeballs from sockets under full stops.
And just in case friends, family, neighbors mistake your GT3-R for any old Continental, the car is dressed up to look just like the race car. That means Glacier White paint and lots of bright green graphics. Even the brake calipers are painted bright green.
And it has the kind of body kit that makes the car look as if it’s doing 200mph standing still. There’s a new carbon fiber front splitter, a new fixed carbon fiber rear wing standing proud on the trunk lid, and lots of gloss black trim. It looks amazing.
But don’t bank on taking friends out for a quick spin in your new toy. That’s because in true race-car style, the rear seat has been jettisoned in order to save weight. Instead there’s a platform for luggage, beautifully upholstered in leather and Alcantara.
Gorgeous materials run throughout the interior. The two, deeply-bolstered carbon fiber front sports bucket seats are finished in Beluga black leather with diamond-quilted Alcantara. The dash and center console are also replaced with high-tech carbon fiber pieces.
The first of the Continental GT3-R super-coupes is expected to land in the U.S. later this year. No word on pricing yet, but expect it to be the most expensive Continental model yet. I’m predicting you won’t get much change from $240,000.
As for having the most unique Bentley Continental on the street? That has to be priceless.
