Boca Ballet Theatre will present Coppélia on stage at Countess de Hoernle Theatre at Spanish River High School in Boca Raton April 5-6. As an added treat, the shows will feature New York City Ballet principal guest artists Megan Fairchild and Joseph Gordon.

Coppélia tells the story of a dancing doll who captures the heart of Franz, a villager. When Franz sets aside his beloved Swanhilda to pursue Coppélia, Swanhilda dresses as the doll and pretends to make it come to life. In the end, Swanhilda saves Franz from an untimely end at the hands of inventor Dr. Coppélius.

Fairchild began her dance training at age four, studying with Judy Levitre and Kaelynne Oliphant at Dance Concepts in Sandy, Utah, and at the Ballet West Conservatory with Sharee Lane, Deborah Dobson, and Maureen Laird. She studied at the School of American Ballet, apprenticed with New York City Ballet, and later joined the company as a member of the corps de ballet. She was promoted to soloist in 2004, and again to principal dancer in 2005. She has danced featured roles in ballets by George Balanchine, Peter Martins, Justin Peck, Alexei Ratmansky, Jerome Robbins, and Christopher Wheeldon.

Gordon began his dance training at age five at The Phoenix Dance Academy. He also trained at the School of American Ballet, apprenticed with New York City Ballet, and joined the company as a member of the corps de ballet. In 2017, Gordon was promoted to soloist and to principal dancer in 2018. He has originated featured roles in works by Benjamin Millepied, Matthew Neenan, Alexei Ratmansky, and Troy Schumacher, in addition to dancing featured roles in ballets by George Balanchine, Ulysses Dove, William Forsythe, and Jerome Robbins.
