May is National Foster Care Month, and Bubs & Sass, a Jupiter-based jewelry company, partnered with Place of Hope on a line called The Hope Collection. Inspired by the young women and girls of Place of Hope, the collection will feature 14 signature pieces to be sold exclusively throughout the month. All of the proceeds will benefit the Palm Beach Gardens-based children and families organization, supporting the housing and support services designed to end the cycles of abuse, neglect, homelessness, poverty, and human trafficking. Place of Hope serves children, youth, and families in Palm Beach County and across the Treasure Coast.

Alyssa Berardo created Bubs & Sass five years ago when she wanted was a simple “J” initial pendant to represent her newborn son, Jonathan. After scouring jewelry lines and seeing the prices for the simple piece, she decided to create it herself. Taking all of her savings, she bought the materials she needed and opened an Etsy shop. When her creations sold out, Bubs & Sass was born. Growing her business over the years has inspired her to partner with Place of Hope to pass along her creative drive and give the tools and building blocks these young women need for a brighter future.

“I knew I wanted to share my story and expertise with a group of teenage girls,” said Berardo. “When I was introduced to the Place of Hope, it was a no brainer. I found my girls. They were amazing! There was so much talent and enthusiasm in the room that day. I can’t wait to do it again!”

“We are inspired by people like Alyssa,” said Jamie Bond, director of advancement at Place of Hope. “She has a story to tell that connects her with our youth in a way nobody else can. Along with her story and compassion, she offers these youth skills that can be used to build their confidence and use in the marketplace. It also encourages them to think like entrepreneurs. The time she is spending with them is an investment in their future. It demonstrates to them they have worth, they are seen and loved, and someone cares enough to invest in them.”

The pieces will retail from $22-$50 and include necklaces, anklets, earrings, and bracelets. Shoppers can purchase online beginning May 1.
