The Palm Beach Film Society will present a showcase of hilariously bad, three-minute remakes of Hollywood hits during the tenth annual Swede Fest Palm Beach. The no-budget film festival kicks off the twelfth annual L-Dub Film Festival at the Lake Worth Playhouse March 28 at 7 p.m.
This year’s list of “bad films by good people” includes new submissions, including Jurassic Park, Weekend at Bernie’s, Jay and Silent Bob, 12 Monkeys, and Rocky. In addition, Audiences will enjoy crowd-favorite remakes of Aliens, Twister, E.T., Titanic, The Hunger Games, Ghost, The Fast and the Furious, The Thing, Momento, Goodfellas, Rambo, The Goonies, Back to the Future, Basic Instinct, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and more.

A “swede” is laughably bad remake of a Hollywood film. The term comes from the 2008 comedy, Be Kind Rewind, which started an underground sweding craze and resulted in the very first Swede Fest in Fresno, California. Swede Fest Palm Beach continues the tradition and now celebrates 10 years of “bad films by good people.” The event includes juried awards for categories such as “best use of paper towels in a swede” as well as the Audience Choice Award selected and presented that evening.
Tickets are $10 and an afterparty with a cash bar is included. Visit lakeworthplayhouse.org for tickets and the film lineup.
