It’s good to be king—just ask Marc Volpicelli. The West Palm Beach cocktail consultant and brand specialist won Max’s Social House’s inaugural bartender showdown, Bar Brawls, in December and is the vice president of the United States Bartenders Guild’s Palm Beach chapter.
Volpicelli shook up dozens of original craft concoctions for the competition, but it was his Last Breath cocktail that captured the judges’ attention. “The presentation is gorgeous and the flavor profile is well balanced, slightly sweet, and floral,” Volpicelli says. Here, Volpicelli shares a streamlined version for Valentine’s Day.
Last Breath
- 1 oz. green tea simple syrup
- 1 1/2 oz. Hendricks Gin
- 3/4 oz. fresh-squeezed lime juice
- 2-3 drops of rose water
- Rose petals for garnish
To make green tea simple syrup, simmer 8 oz. water with 16 oz. sugar and 5-6 tea bags.
Put first four ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake well. Strain into a teacup or martini glass straight up or in a rocks glass over one large cube. Garnish with rose petals.
