MELVYN P. KARP, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.A.P.

Perennial “Top Physician” Dr. Melvyn P. Karp has been caring for his neighbors’ children for more than 25 years.

Karp was a tenured associate professor and associate chair of the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Department of Pediatric Surgery. He authored thirty-five scholarly papers and several have formulated the modern treatment of common pediatric conditions and injuries. Karp was the founding director of both of the pediatric trauma centers in Palm Beach County — St. Mary’s and Delray and cares for these injured children to this day.

He established the KIDZ Surgical Center, a division of the multispecialty KIDZ Medical Services, as a boutique practice offering extraordinary attention to detail and kind, ageappropriate care by child- friendly staff,nurses and pediatric anesthesiologists. Well-known for his minimally invasive and cosmetic approach to children’s surgery, Karp utilizes laser, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques to provide the most modern and the least painful surgery for his patients. He believes it’s important to carefully discuss treatment options with parents. “Just because a new technique can be done, doesn’t mean that it should be done,” he says.
