    Stephen M. Quinnan, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and leading innovator in his field. He has an exceptional background including medical education at Columbia University in New York and fellowship training in both orthopaedic trauma at the world-renowned Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, as well as limb lengthening and deformity correction at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in Australia. He then practiced for 12 years at the University of Miami/Ryder Trauma Center where he served as chief of orthopaedic trauma surgery. He joined the Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute in 2020 where he serves as chief of orthopaedic trauma as well as head of the amputee reconstruction program.

    Dr. Quinnan has invented and published on multiple groundbreaking surgical treatments in the areas of limb reconstruction and deformity correction, pelvic and hip reconstruction, severe fracture treatment, post-traumatic and amputee reconstruction. These advances have not only improved the lives of many patients but have also set new standards for what is possible in extremity and pelvic reconstruction.

    Dr. Quinnan provides the highest level of fracture care for both the lower and upper extremities, especially for high-energy severe injuries. He also specializes in limb and joint preservation and joint replacement surgery, complex pelvic and acetabulum reconstruction, treatment of fracture nonunion and malunion, limb lengthening, correction of limb deformity and malalignment, treatment of lower and upper extremity bone loss, 3D custom solutions, and treatment of osteomyelitis. In recent years, Dr. Quinnan has been a leader in the revolutionary improvements in amputee reconstruction including cutting-edge techniques such as osseointegration for amputees, targeted muscle reinnervation, and residuum lengthening. He is currently the only active member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association in Palm Beach County and is in the presidential line of the Limb Lengthening Reconstruction Society.

    Dr. Quinnan has taught at nearly 100 orthopaedic educational courses, published over 40 impactful peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and has been an invited speaker in 14 countries on five continents. His methods are recognized and practiced world-wide, and he is happy to offer that world-class care to our community at the Paley Institute in West Palm Beach.
