The events kick off with the return of Resource Depot’s Eleventh Annual Catwalk Student Fashion Show at the Norton Museum of Art, as part of the museum’s Art After Dark program on April 21, beginning at 8 p.m. This year’s fashion is inspired by artwork throughout the museum. Students—ranging from elementary to high school—were given a “trashformation” challenge to construct wearable art made from a variety of traditional and non-traditional materials. Participating student designers were given access to Resource Depot’s treasure trove of reusable materials and participated in weekly workshops, where they learned the basics of using a sewing machine and construction techniques, with guidance on incorporating the materials they choose along the way. Through the use of nontraditional materials, the students gained environmental consciousness while thinking outside of the “trash.” Immediately after the show, student outfits will be on display in Resource Depot’s GalleRE, from April 26 to May 13.

The nonprofit toasts to Mother Earth at their Happy (Earth Day) Hour at Steamhorse Brewing Co in West Palm Beach on April 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. Guests will enjoy live music, games, and the first round of drinks on Resource Depot with a $20 donation benefiting the nonprofit’s educational programs.
