The Art of Science initiative is a collaborative effort of the Center for Creative
Education, South Florida Science Center and Aquarium based on STEAM
(Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities delivered to ten
Palm Beach County elementary afterschool sites.
Third through Fifth grade students were taught five sequential inter-related science
sessions by the South Florida Science Center on various topics such as the beauty
and anatomy of cells, brain anatomy, and the anatomy of a neuron. The science
lesson incorporated an art project with a CCE Teaching Artist in which the
students reinforced their scientific knowledge through visual arts.
