SUMMARY:Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family Service Virtual Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:This year’s annual meeting for Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family Service (Alpert JFS) and Melvin J. & Claire Levine Jewish Residential & Family Service (Levine JRFS) will be different from previous years\, as it will be a virtual gathering. A full program will recap 2019-2020\, and usher in 2020-2021. Scott Greenberg\, owner of ComForCare Home Care\, will be the Master of Ceremonies for the event. \nGreenberg will welcome those attending virtually\, discharge the 2019-2020 Board of Directors\, and Install the 2020-2021 Board. Rabbi Moshe Scheiner\, of Palm Beach Synagogue\, will deliver the D’var Torah (a talk relating to the weekly Torah portion); outgoing President Michael A. Lampert\, Esq. will deliver his farewell address; incoming President Zelda Mason will deliver her inaugural address; the graduating teen participants of the Alpert JFS “Relationships & Decisions for Teens” program will be recognized; five distinguished Volunteer Awards will be presented; and Marc D. Hopin will give his first message as Alpert JFS CEO. \nThere are numerous awards established in memory of people who hold a special place in the hearts of Alpert JFS\, Levine JRFS\, and the Jewish community for their contributions to the agencies. This year’s Volunteer Award winners include Kevin Shapiro of Shapiro/Pertnoy Companies (Bernie Silbert Volunteer Award)\, Palm Beach dentist Dr. Mitchell Josephs (Bob Schweitzer Volunteer Award)\, Arnold Fish (Linda White Volunteer Award)\, and Phylis Newman (Sol Freedman Volunteer Award). Flagler Bank is receiving the inaugural Alpert JFS Award of Distinction. \n“Nobody could have foreseen the events of the past season\, yet despite the upheaval caused by COVID-19\, and the turmoil it presented\, we answered our phones\, welcomed new clients\, and remained open for business\,” said Alpert CEO Marc D.
