H.O.W. ~ 17th Annual Time is of the Essence Luncheon

H.O.W. (Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper) will host the 17th Annual Time is of the Essence Luncheon on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at The Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach. Celebrity guest speakers are the most decorated gymnast in American history, Shannon Miller, and award-winning reporter and media veteran, Deborah Roberts. Valerie Goldfein will serve as Chair. Honorary Chairs are Andrea Stark and Judy Snyder.

Shannon Miller, the only female athlete to be inducted into the US Olympic Hall of Fame – Twice! [Individual (2006) and Team (2008)]. She was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer in 2011. Her baseball-size tumor was successfully removed and she followed-up with an aggressive chemotherapy regimen. Shannon has remained open and public about her diagnosis and treatment and continues to empower women to make their health a priority. Shannon is currently cancer free and remains a strong advocate for early detection.

In a casual interview format, Shannon will answer questions from Deborah Roberts, an award-winning reporter who is a highly respected news correspondent. She reports consistently for ABC News’ 20/20, Good Morning America, World News Tonight, and Nightline. Deborah has also served as substitute anchor for Good Morning America, World News Weekend, and 20/20, as well as co-host of The View.

H.O.W. (Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper) raises money to support basic or translational research in ovarian cancer through the Jacquie Liggett Research Fellowship. Women with ovarian cancer experiencing financial need are helped through the Jacquie Liggett Angel Fund. H.O.W. is dedicated to promoting awareness and recent advances in ovarian cancer by presenting educational programs to women primarily in our area. H.O.W. also provides scholarships to medical students interested in gynecologic oncology by working with a Gynecologic Oncologist during their elective time in medical school through the Dr. Robert C. Knapp Medical Student Award.
