Kids Drowning Prevention Program
May 18 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pmFree
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Xi Pi Omega Chapter in partnership with the Alpha Pearl Foundation is pleased to host its Global Impact Day Initiative, The Kids Drowning Prevention Program. The Kids Drowning Prevention Program focuses on a local scale with an international footprint teaching water safety along with drowning safety prevention techniques for kids and their parents. The location sponsor, the City of Delray Beach Parks and Recreation will provide life guard instruction and evaluation of the participating kids swimming capabilities while their parents receive basic CPR instruction by our international partners of Red Cross’s Aquatics Training Division. The children will have the opportunity to apply for free or discounted swimming lessons through the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Palm Beach County and a healthy lunch will be served. The event also features City of Delray Beach Police and Fire Rescue Departments reinforcing topics of water safety and the buddie system. Other local community sponsors such as Walmart, Publix Supermarkets, KOP Mentoring Network and Tamar Hamilton Attorney at Law have generously provided donations to support this initiative. Space is limited therefore an rsvp is required. Children participating are accepted on a first come first serve basis. To rsvp April 15, 2019 through May 17, 2019 please go to APFoundation2004@gmail.com. Children must be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian and sign in by 9:30 am the day of the event. Parents and legal guardians must be present during the duration of the program in addition to provide proper identification and sign a release for their children to participate. Children are required to wear appropriate swimming attire, comfortable clothing, none slip shoes and bring a personal towel. Come join Xi Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the Alpha Pearl Foundation for free family fun and instruction!
