The Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches kicks off its 65th concert season with “Legends, Laughter, and Lightning” concert on Saturday, October 11, 7:30 p.m., at Duncan Theatre, Lake Worth followed by a repeat performance at the Eissey Campus Theatre, Palm Beach Gardens on Sunday, October 19, 3 p.m. Tickets ($25) are available by phone at 561-207-5900 or online at www.SymphonicBand.org.

From the thunderous gallop of Henry Fillmore’s Rolling Thunder to the mystical world of J. R. R. Tolkien’s Gandalf, journey through a night of unforgettable characters and vivid soundscapes. Tap your toes to beloved marches like Percy Grainger’s Country Gardens and swing along with crowd-pleasers like Clarinet Polka and a jazzy twist on 76 Trombones from Meredith Willson’s The Music Man.
Feel a chill as Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre whirls into the supernatural, and reflect on the haunting beauty of Shostakovich’s Waltz No. 2. Then hold onto your seat for the exhilarating Funiculi-Funicula Rhapsody.
And not to be left out hear the oompah sounds of Oktober fest via Ernest Hoffman’s quick polka Trompeten-Express. Grab your stein and enjoy the fun.
