Palm Beach Symphony Concert

April 12, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

On April 12, Palm Beach Symphony will conclude its 2018-19 Masterworks Concert Series with a program entitled “Precious Gems” at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach. The concert will include Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7, with guest pianist Leon Fleisher joining the symphony for the Mozart piece. Fleisher took up the piano at age 4 and debuted at Carnegie Hall, playing with the New York Philharmonic, when he was only 16 years old. His prodigious career came to a halt in the mid-1960s when he lost the use of two fingers on his right hand. Fleisher, who was in his 30s at the time, turned to conducting, teaching, and mastering left-handed piano repertoire. Roughly 30 years later, following experimental treatments, he regained control of those fingers and reembraced the spotlight as a soloist. Now, at age 90, the Kennedy Center honoree continues to tour and share his talent with audiences the world over.
